Why do we need iodine? “Iodine is essential for life. It - TopicsExpress

Why do we need iodine? “Iodine is essential for life. It enables the thyroid gland to produce the hormones needed to develop and maintain the brain and nervous system. When the levels of thyroid hormone fall, the heart, liver, kidneys, muscles, and endocrine system are all adversely affected. It results in mental and physical retardation, goiters, cretinism, reproductive failure, infant mortality, and socioeconomic stagnation.” My main source of daily iodine comes from at least 3 of these sources a day: dried seaweed, Himalayan crystal salt, boiled eggs , bananas, (frozen) strawberries and of course potatoes. There are tons of sources of iodine in other foods that I dont eat like milk, lobster, shrimp, fish sticks, canned tuna and a host of others. I just wanted to share with you my personal food choice when it comes to iodine. And as always, avoid vitamins and supplements. There is a lot to learn about iodine, but here is an article that runs it down.
