Wide awake now. Thought we had a burglar, and we kind of did ....we had a garbage thief! A big hairy one, with big pointed ears, big teeth, and a long tail. We call her Rio. Apparently, she was a little upset about not getting any pork chops for dinner, so she helped herself to the trash. Used her head to open the lid several times (the slamming noise I was hearing) and dug around until she found what she wanted! Walked in to find a somewhat neatly placed pile of discarded garbage and a German Shepherd sheepishly licking her lips.
