Will You Stand in The Gap? And I sought for a man among them, - TopicsExpress

Will You Stand in The Gap? And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. (Ezekiel 22:30 KJV) In this scripture God was looking for a man or woman who was willing to stand in the gap or intercede for the Israelites but there was no one. God desires for there to be those that would pray for those in as well as those outside of the body of Christ. We must be a people of prayer if we are to live a life according to the will of God. Intercession is something that we all can be a part of as we must pray for those around us, friends, family, and our leaders. The Bible tells us to pray for those in authority so that we will live peaceable lives. (1 Timothy 2:2) Even if those that are in authority are not saved we must still pray for them. We must pray for the salvation of the lost because there are many people that are out there who do not know who Jesus is. Jesus said in Luke 10:2, “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.” We have to pray that there will be those that will be sent out into the world to preach salvation to those that are lost. We must pray for our cities and country even as Abraham interceded for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 18:23 – 32. God heard of the evil that was being done in those cities so He went down to see for Himself. God told Abraham what He was about to do to Sodom and Gomorrah and Abraham then began to intercede for the people asking God not to destroy the righteous with the wicked. He asked God if he would not destroy the city if there were 50 righteous found and God said He would not. Abraham continued on this discourse until he asked if there were only 10 righteous in the city would he not destroy it and God agreed that if there were 10 that he would not destroy it. Abraham stood in the gap for the city, but there were not even 10 righteous people in the whole city, so God removed Lot and his family and destroyed that wicked city. Moses too was a man that was in constant intercession for the Israelites. When God thought to bring swift judgment Moses would intercede for the nation. While Moses was on the mountain receiving the law, the Israelites made a golden calf and this was very displeasing to God. God was going to destroy the Israelites and told Moses in Exodus 32:10 “Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.” God was going to destroy the nation and start all over again, but Moses interceded in the next few verses (11 – 13) and God turned from His fierce wrath. Sometimes that is all it takes for God to turn from the judgment that He intends to do to a nation is for someone to humble themselves and stand in the gap for the people. During my deployment to Iraq, we saw what happens when there are a group of people that will come together in agreement on an issue and stand in the gap before God. God is a merciful, and will hear the prayers of the righteous when we intercede for others. Let’s come together in agreement and pray for the restoration of our nation that God would be put back in His rightful place as the head of our country and we will surely live peaceable lives. Prayer: Heavenly Father, ruler of all the earth, we ask right now that you would begin to move upon the hearts of the leaders of our nation. Instead of them trying to separate the church and state that we the church would be able to play a larger role on the leading of our nation. We pray that you would begin to move in the hearts of our lawmakers that they would make laws that are within your will and turn from the ways of the world. We ask that they would return to the intent of our forefathers and allow true freedom or religion so that Your Spirit would reign supreme in the midst of our great nation. Lord your word says that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. This liberty is freedom and there is no true freedom unless we are in your presence. Lord may your presence be found in every government building and may those that enter in know that you are there. Father, we thank you now for the move that has already began to take place in our country and that you would begin a move by Your Spirit to begin to turn things around. We pray these things in Jesus name, amen and amen! May we continue to intercede for the nations of the world and for the salvation of the lost as we are living in the last days. May there be a move of the Holy Spirit in the lives of creation so that others may be saved. May the God of peace and the peace and love of God be with you always!
