Will this destroy your foundations? ovginvest/property-investment-news/will-this-destroy-your-foundations/ You may have noticed there are lots of trees in Detroit. In fact back in the 1940s Detroit was known as the City of Trees. Sadly many were wiped out by Dutch Elm disease in the 1950s. But you can still find many tree-lined streets and over 300 parks around the city today. Of course, they are beautiful to look at. But what about trees close to your property? Is there a risk of the roots damaging your foundations? Well as you know, many properties in Detroit were built in the 1930s and 40s. And lots of trees were planted around that time. As you’d expect, these have grown pretty big over the last 80 years. So it’s definitely something you need to be careful about. Which is why we perform a thorough check of all foundations before we start renovating a property. If we find any serious problems we board up the house and move on to the next one. Sounds a drastic solution, I know. But with house prices where they are at the moment, it’s simply not commercially viable to repair major defects with foundations. And we are not in the business of patching things up and passing problems on to you. Because we want you to keep investing with us. One final thing about trees… Most tenants love to have parks and playfields close to home so their children can go and play. So if your investment has one nearby it can add value to your property. It will certainly make it easier to rent. And you’ll probably sell your property faster when you are ready. Because more buyers will be interested. So if you’d like to see what’s on offer in Detroit (all close to parks and/or playfields) – just send me a message. Let’s have a quick look at a few that are available right now... ovginvest/property-investment-news/will-this-destroy-your-foundations/#riad-street
