Wimbledon 2013 Qualifiers Kick Off Date 18 June 2013 The grass court season has come and the next Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon is going to be held from June 24th to July 7th. The qualifiers kicked off yesterday, and Japan’s Go Soeda (VCORE Xi 98, PTGSPN) made a good start with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Croatia’s Nikola Mektic to get through the qualifying round. This week YONEX players entered the last preliminary tournaments to be ready for Wimbledon in top condition. World top ten-ranked Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) competes as the second seed at Topshelf Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Meanwhile the last year’s Wimbledon Semifinalist, Angelique Kerber (VCORE Xi 100), and Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) play at Aegon International in Eastbourne, the United Kingdom. Number 6 seed Maria won her opener against Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia in straight sets yesterday. Becoming the quarterfinalist in Roland Garros 2013, she reached world top 10 in WTA ranking for the first time.
