Winds gusting to 60 mph in South King and Pierce counties have picked up, causing limbs and trees to take down additional power lines. Crews have restored power to more than 70,000 Puget Sound Energy customers, but continuing high winds are outpacing restoration efforts. We are pulling in crews from outside the area to bolster our own forces. Safety is top priority. In some cases, wires and tree limbs are falling around crews, making it too dangerous to continue. As conditions allow, they will continue working through the night and into the early morning. Our priority for damage assessment and restoration is transmission lines and substations that serve large numbers of customers. As the wind continues to blow, we’re dealing with new outages from fallen trees and debris. You may experience your power come on and then go off, due to damage from the increasing winds, but know that we’re working to safely restore power as conditions allow.
