Wine Tasting—“Interesting Mediterranean Reds” Wednesday, August 14th 6pm Some REALLY interesting "country" styled red wines from around the Mediterranean basin. Finding "good" ones is a lot harder than one would imagine. Here are FOUR. Look at it as just another opportunity to learn. 2010 Nanfro Frappato we searched for many years to find a good Sicilian Frappato (the grape variety). Finally, here is one—fruity, delicious, yet masculine with a hearty finish . 2010 Domaine du Joncier “Les Muses” located on the right bank of the southern Rhone, this is an organically/bio farmed vineyard done fanatically. SHE produces 2 cuvees…Les Muses mostly Mourvedre, with Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault & Carginane blended in…all done with a female’s touch. . 2009 Celler de l’Encastell “Marge” organically farmed on slate/llicoella hillsides, in Porrera (Priorat), Spain. 60% Grenache with some Cabernet, Merlot & Syrah blended in & then aged in French & American oak for 8 months. ) 2010 Campo di Sasso “Insoglia del Cinghiale” located in the coastal, upper Maremma, bordering Bolgheri & its low nutrient sandy soils. The base of this wine is 32% Syrah to which some Cabenet Franc, Merlot & Petite Verdot is blended in. .
