Wingless 600s ....nationals....Winged 270s $1200.00 to win for the 600s, $1000.00 for the 270s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS OFFICIAL, the 600s will be WINGLESS for the Nationals. THE INFORMATION ON THE BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY NATIONALS IN MEMORY OF BILL THOMAS HAS BEEN FINALIZED. This will be the forth year that this Race will be named after Bill Thomas. The late great Mr. Thomas was instrumental in the vision the helped start Bridgeport Speedways 1/4 mile PROGRAM. Without his hard work and diligence into the 1/4 mile program I strongly feel that we would not have the premier racing facility that we do today. This track and the people that competed on it weekly meant a lot to Bill. I wish he could see what it is turning into. The track surface is fast and competitive. We lost this Great man, father, husband, son and friend to the devastating MESOTHELIOMA ;form of cancer. 2014 will be the first time the Bill Thomas Memorial, Bridgeport Nationals will be a WINGLESS race for the micro sprint 600 division. The management team felt the growing 600 wingless class would produce a stronger field and more competitive racing on the fast, tacky, banked recently reconfigured 1/4 mile racing surface. The 600s will pay $1200.00 to win (with 24 cars) The WINGLESS competitors will race 40 fast and competitive laps. The winged 270 class will be competing for $1000.00 to win. (with 24 cars) Both divisions will qualify into the mains through heat races that will be established by a pill draw. The top starters in the A main will be finalized by a redraw selection process. Additional sponsors are being saute after. Any additional monies raised will be divided equally between the racers purse fund with the other half being donated to the MESOTHELIOMA ;organization names by the Thomas family. The speedway has announced the the winner of the October 3rd qualifier race will be guaranteed a starting spot into the A main for the Bill Thomas Memorial Race. This race will also be a Wingless event for the 600s. This race will pay $300.00 to win with just 15 cars entering each division. This qualifier race will see the gates open at 5:00pm, hot laps at 7:00pm. Racing will start at 8:00pm. For the Bill thomas Memorial race on October 18th the gates will open at 3:00pm. Hot laps will start at 5:00pm with racing kicking off at 6:00pm. If you would like to kick up the racers purse money above the already inflated amount you may sponsor a finishing position or sponsor a lap leader. One half of your donation will be forwarded to the MESOTHELIOMA ;charity chosen by the Thomas family.
