Winter School 2015 Democracy, expertise and power: the role of experts in modern European societies 7 - 15 FEBRUARY 2015, Kraków, Poland This Winter School takes as its point of departure the increasing role of experts and expertise in democracies. Who is an expert? What is knowledge? How can we reconcile expertise with various types of democracy? What is the role of academia in contemporary society and what are the implications of public-private partnership? What is the role of mass/social media in developing social movements and democracy? MEET SPECIALISTS FROM KRAKÓW AND OSLO. STUDY AND DISCUSS. GET THE ANSWERS. ELIGIBILITY: · All countries MA, Phd students as well as alumni or participants interested in the topic. COSTS: · No participation fee · Accomodation, winter school materials, participation in seminars covered by organizers APPLICATION: Due to the limited places, the participants will be chosen basis on the application. The results will be announced in the first week of January 2015.
