With a little over a week to the Republican Primary on Sept 9th I - TopicsExpress

With a little over a week to the Republican Primary on Sept 9th I thought I would post a few thoughts on the candidates. Governor: Best chance to beat the incumbent is Walt Havenstein US Senate: Best chance to win this race is Scott Brown US House: I am supporting Col Gary Gary E. Lambert County Attorney: I strongly support Patricia Conway. Most experience and seems like she would be firm and fair. State Rep: Lots of choices and I would specifically like to point out three new candidates: 1) Dane Hoover is Chairman of the Budget Committee and a true fiscal conservative 2) Martha Spalding member of the Budget Committee and fiscally conservative 3) Michael Petrilli He ran for Selectman last March and is fiscally conservative. After these three there is a lot to choose from. Bob Elliott, Anne Priesley Joe Sweeney and Ronald Belanger all supported the Casino and have experience Bianca Garcia and Patrick Bick are current Reps, but they opposed Casino Gambling John Sytek supported the last casino bill and opposed the previous ones. My major disagreement with John who is a good guy was his support for the increase in the gas tax. Gary Azarian was elected two years ago, but then resigned. He signed up to run against me for Selectmen and then withdrew. Michael Flathers and John Manning support Casino gambling and have been around for a long time supporting the party. Arthur Barnes, Fred Doucette and Robert Stanley are former town employees and I wonder if they are up to facing the important issue of pension reform which after health care costs is the major item driving up local property taxes. The remaining candidates are relatively unknown to me. You have nine votes for State Rep. It is important to know where the candidates stand on important issues such as casino gambling, right to work, pension reform and other fiscal issues. If the candidate has held office before look and see if they were for raising your taxes or fought to keep taxes down. Most of these people have records and even though they are all registered Republicans we all know we have RINOs in our party. They hide what they stand for and then vote to increase your taxes. I think we need a blend of experience, but we also need some new blood and that is why I hope you consider Hoover, Petrilli and Spalding. Please get out and vote. The right to vote in free and fair elections is the must fundamental right we have in our democracy.
