With less than twenty four hours left in this wonderful place, I - TopicsExpress

With less than twenty four hours left in this wonderful place, I find myself thinking of my beginning and the journey this city has allowed me to experience. My first step in BRC was in 2006, I found home with the lamplighters and still to this day, I am fortunate to call many of them friends. Walking the streets and seeing the pretty things was very overwhelming, little has changed. In 2010 I decided to become a ranger and some of you may remember why. I wanted to help the local Boise community and in almost everything I have done in the rangers, was to help better my home. Something changed though, I found another Phamily. The Rangers have truly been one of the best things I have ever been apart of. Learning to be a better ranger has helped me learn to be a better person but then again, that sounds kind of boring. This city has allowed me the opportunity to be artistically the person I so choose, even if that means I have to sometimes appoligize for what may have happened the night before. So, while walking to the temple burn, alone, I looked around and took in the breath taking sights. Walking out from the 9:00 plaza I first noticed the void when the man stood less than 24 hours before. In its place, my eyes were filled with the beauty of the mountains that stood in the background. I slowed my pace to a slow walk and enjoyed as the people and bikes walked by. I stopped to enjoy the art, costumes, random conversations and the dust. Yes, for that brief period, I enjoyed the dust. I found my seat, a space far away from anyone else on the 12 oclock side, and waited for the burn. I remembered the last time I was at a temple burn in 2006. I had always tried to be respectful to the participants that needed that release. When I saw the first flame ignite inside the temple, a tear rolled down my cheek and that stream did not run dry until I left the area. I hope that in my time with you, whoever you are reading this, that I have expressed my love and appreciation for you in my life. Never be afraid to be the person you want to be and make sure youre the one that chooses that path. Be sure to thank those people you love and often.
