With our upper-level ridge still dominating our weather, very little change has occurred in our weather over the last several days and very little is expected. The only noticeable difference has been an increase in our southerly wind speed due to an area of high pressure in the western Gulf. These winds should gradually diminish over the next few days as the high moves off to the northeast. Although humidity levels have remained fairly high, and when combined with afternoon temperatures near or above the 100° mark have produced dangerous heat index levels, the precipitable water values have been too low to mention any significant rain chances. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of an isolated afternoon shower - if you happen to be in the right place at the right time! Forecast models indicate the possibility of our upper-level ridge beginning to weaken and shift northward on Sunday in response to a low moving into the northern plains. This should allow precipitable water values to gradually increase to the point where we might have a chance of rain in the forecast toward the middle of next week. Longer range models are predicting the possibility of a trough moving through the northern plains on Thursday which could send a front into Texas late Thursday/early Friday bringing even better rain chances to much of central Texas. Fingers crossed! Enjoy the rest of the week and have a nice weekend!
