With the book being so close to being done we have started to send out early copies for a select few individuals to review. Today we received our first book review from one of these individuals, Jim Lang. Mr. Lang is a retired professor from the University of Illinois system and a long time and well respected collector. Here is what he had to say after looking at our book. "Book review of “Native American Artifacts of Wisconsin” by Jim Lang, Champaign, Illinois The authors, Paul Schanen and David Hunzicker, spent a prodigious amount of time researching and writing the content of their publication, “Native American Artifacts of Wisconsin.” Their focus was Wisconsin-obtained prehistoric Indian artifacts with superb drawings and color photographs of familiar artifacts and ceramic types. They extended their research to include ground tools and copper implements produced mostly by the Old Copper Complex. The authors encompassed their discussion to include lithic materials commonly found and used in Wisconsin, Wisconsin’s prehistory and artifact collecting basics. The book is a great read and a valuable resource for those who are specifically interested in Wisconsin archaeology. “Native American Artifacts of Wisconsin” provides a complete, concise and current representation of archaeology in the State of Wisconsin. The authors did an impressive job in my opinion with extraordinary illustrations, terminology, charts and photographs along with easy to read and concise discussions." We can only hope that others find the book as pleasing as Mr. Lang!
