With the federal government shutdown, we received notice this morning from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship that if you have "Farmers Market Nutrition Program Senior and WIC $3.00 checks (vouchers) or WIC Cash Value Vouchers (CVVs), they can and should be used at authorized farmers markets (like the Welcome Center Farmers Market) or farmstands for the remainder of the 2013 market season." The funds for the 2013 vouchers/checks that have already been issued came out of the 2013 fiscal budget and are not affected by the shutdown.
