His eyes rake over me and his eyes begin to sparkle. The dress seems to have been a good choice. “We need to get going or my—” “Holly, are you going to introduce me to your friend?” Too late. Busted. I roll my eyes when my dad steps ahead of me, in-between the two of us. “Can I help you with something?” “I’m taking your daughter out tonight,” Devon answers with his usual confidence. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Taylor.” I stand on my tiptoes and look over my father’s shoulder to see Devon offering his hand out to him. Very courteous. Very unlike Devon. “Yeah … I don’t think so.” Before he or I can say another word, the front door’s slammed closed and my dad’s expression is tight. “Go and get changed. Now.”
