With the passing of an old friend Mitch Shostak, I am reminded of our band Athena, as Mitch was at so many rehearsals and was part of the package. To you, Old Friend: https://youtube/watch?v=OwN2hGoKy_E Athena was as unique and original musical group in Greenwich Village, New York City from 1969 -- 70 that I played in when I was 20. It was started by Geoffrey Welch, a piano player and composer. This is a Youtube video of our demo tapes. This was an exciting and very special time in my life. While I was attending the School of Visual Arts in New York City, I was living in Greenwich Village near Washington Square park at Sullivan and 3rd Streets. I shared a small 1 bedroom apartment with two other musicians who were studying at NYU - New York University. I was driving a taxi cab to pay rent and also drove a forklift truck at a lumber yard in the Bronx for a time. All the while, we would rehearse these very interesting original songs, trying to get recorded. We met a parade fascinating characters and investors who were going too make us famous, and basically, it was like living in a Fellini movie. Strange, fun, bizarre and confusing at times, but exciting. You will hear 2 versions of some of the songs as we had 2 different singers over a years time. It is 40 minutes long. Please forgive the audio quality and listen to the interesting musical ideas combining classical, rock and some jazz elements. This audio came from a very old reel to reel magnetic tape from 1969. Sometimes the tape jumps, or slows down. I hope you can hear the music despite the sound.
