Witness dies at Hoima Court There was commotion at Hoima Chief Magistrates Court when a witness collapsed and died on Friday at about 9.30am. Alozio Sabiiti in his 60s, a resident of Kitemba Village in Busiisi Division of Hoima Municipality, was a witness in a land case between Mr Phenekansi Ruhiirabake and Mr Moses Byaruhanga, both residents of Busiisi Division. They are wrangling over the ownership of a 35-acre piece of land, located in Busiisi. Mr Byaruhanga said the deceased was his witness and had come to back his claims on the land. “This is unfortunate because he was my principal witness. He knew how my late father legally purchased this land and passed it on to me,” he said. The case is before Hoima Grade One Magistrate Richard Ndangwa. The court had by press time not commented on the incident. When Sabiiti was called to testify, instead of walking to the dock, he excused himself from the proceedings and collapsed shortly after walking out of the courtroom.
