Witnessed an accident on 4th Avenue in Huntington this afternoon. This is about the 5th time in my life where Ive seen a crash and tried to help the people involved. The driver of the black Mercury was a young woman, a Marshall student from Arizona. She had a pretty bad cut on her head. Luckily, another passer-by was an off-duty firefighter. He did what he could to stop the bleeding from the cut while I talked to her and tried to keep her calm. Told her she wasnt alone and that she was going to be okay. She was pretty shaken up and scared...her car took a pretty hard hit. The worst part of all of this is that the vehicle which hit her drove away. I saw everything happen, so I was able to get a description of that vehicle and its license plate number. Like I said, this is about the 5th time this has happened in my life. I guess Im just supposed to be there to try and do what I can. I think the young lady will be okay...just a very scary situation...
