Wizard World SA, Artist rating: Overall, I liked this con and it was well run and well laid out. Yes, I would do it again. Pros: My table was facing Peter Mayhew and Lou Ferrigno. That was awesome! The vendors get a Fast Pass to meet the celebrities, which means you can get in line behind the VIPs but in front of the general public. This works well when you pay attention and the lines are short. A nice bonus. I liked that the crowd came to spend money. The layout was perfect with the vendors by the front door, the artists next and the celebrities in the back of the main hall. It had a great flow and we had lots of traffic. Cons: Tables cost about double that of other cons and you only get a 2ft by 8ft table and 2 chairs. You cannot bring in other tables. You cannot rearrange your space. Your table is butted up against your neighbors. Very, very cramped. You also had to walk all the way to the end of the aisle behind the tables to get out. Especially difficult if you have a neighbor that has stuff piled up behind their space. They also had a particularly annoying VIP experience that involved a throng of a thousand teenage girls screaming and fainting. They came en masse down the escalator in a never-ending swarm on Friday and Saturday. My ears will never be the same. And also, the volunteers didnt seem to know about the vendor fast passes, so we had to call over actual Wizard World staff to resolve the issue. I will say this: The management held a vendor meeting on Sunday and took some suggestions. I understand (from other folks experienced with Wizard World cons) that they are very set in their ways and are loathe to change. I think they do see the problems with the closeness of the artist alley tables. They do have a hard sell line and will try to get you to upgrade to a more expensive vendor space. You can buy two artist alley tables for the same price as one 10 x 10 vendor space. Still, its pricey. I had a lot of fun and met some great people :)
