✔✔Woman sues Kericho Governor Chepkwony over child upkeep✔✔ A woman has filed a suit against Kericho Governor Paul Kiprono Chepkwony seeking maintenance and upkeep orders for a child she allegedly had with him. Agnes Chebet, middle-aged, wants the court to compel Chepkwony to pay a monthly maintenance and upkeep cost of Sh158,000 and render all parental responsibility of the three and a half year-old boy. She also wants custody of the child pending the hearing and determination of the suit. In her affidavit, Chebet claims she cohabited with Chepkwony, then a senior lecturer at Moi University Chepkoilel campus, now University of Eldoret, from 2007 to 2011. She claims that was when she conceived and gave birth to the boy. Chebet alleges that Chepkwony has neglected the child and failed in his parental responsibility to ensure his survival. Chepkwony has neglected me and the child completely, forcing me to raise him alone and yet his father is a governor. The condition in which he is living doesn’t befit that of the son of a governor who earns a monthly salary of over Sh1 million,” she said. Chebet is also demanding from Chepkwony a monthly fee of Sh30,000 for rent and food, Sh20,000 for clothing, Sh15,000 for medication, Sh8,000 for a house help, a monthly entertainment fee of Sh15,000, another Shs10,000 for the boy’s day care at school and Sh30,000 for other expenses. Chebet further claimed that the boy dropped out of school because she could no longer afford his school fees. She said she was forced to take a loan to be able to care for him. The case will be heard before Kericho Resident Magistrate Ezra Ayuka on Tuesday.
