Womens right groups have been proactive about body image issues in teenagers. With stupid quotes like Only dogs need bones. Real men want curves ( real men can want bones, neurons, RBC everything. Stop being preachy) The focus is towards healthy women instead of starved anorexic women from the magazine covers. While it feels good to see people encouraging women to see inner beauty and love yourself I wonder why no one speaks about body issues for men. Why does no one raise a voice against all the fairness creams for men? It is illogical to imply that a fair girl is a better singer. Extending the logic, it is illogical to imply fair guy plays better cricket. And yes, there are still women who wouldnt make fun of your acting because you arent fair enough. So shut up mens fairness cream ads with deoxygenated carbon magnetic technology (really? :-/) But of course you arent hot till you have about 30 kg of muscles. Six packs, eight packs as if men are cartons of milk. So please go ahead and spend time in the gym till you have the perfectly sculpted body. No, I am not against maintaining health. I am against projecting a particular body type as perfect. Against telling men that they dont deserve respect because they arent tall enough or bulged up enough. So real men look fair as flour, have perfect skin, perfect shave to microscopic precision and wear perfect clothes. Next is what? You arent a real man till you dont get hair treatment every other day? Guys look good when they work hard for a project, when they keep blabbering about their favourite player, when they unwrap a #chocolate for a little kid. The concept of inner beauty exists even for men. At the end of the day , it is more important to not be a douche than to be the perfect guy from the magazines. Sincerely, A feminist.
