Woodlots removed in CK since January 28th, 2013. Scroll through the photos and you will understand why so many are encouraging and supporting a conservation by-law in CK. Last year almost double the amount disappeared. Just a note, in 2012 there was no mention of a potential by-law for CK. Talks about the need for a by-law did not surface until people became deeply concerned that 1000 acres were cleared in 2012. This is a very emotional issue and many people have strong opinions. However if this issue was ignored and everyone turned a blind eye as to what was happening it would be letting the children and future generations of this community down. We all know how important these woodlots are for MANY reasons. There does come a time when an activity is no longer sustainable and becomes a danger to all of society weather it does or does not take place on personal property! For this issue effects everyone urban, rural, woodlot owner and clear-cutter in regards to the social, economical, and environmental future of this community. There is a reason why 36 other Municipalities implemented a conservation by-law years ago. This is not something new! They just had the ability to see the bigger picture a long time ago! So what is the bigger picture for CK? chatham-kent-enoughisenough/photos.php
