Wooster Motorsports Night Ends in Spectacular Fashion Wooster, Ohio – August 5, 2013 – “Welcome to sprint car racing,” was the first thing fellow driver Dean Jacobs told Jimmy Pooler after his wild ride. With the Wayne County Speedway rainout Friday night, the Wooster Motorsports team decided to make the tow to Fremont Speedway for the FAST 410 show Saturday evening. We fought adversity the whole day only to have the night end in spectacular fashion that proved why Fremont is called “The Track That Action Built.” During our set of hotlaps, the car looked good and handled well. After hotlaps, Jimmy pulled into our pit to make final adjustments to the car for qualifying. While the motor was still idling, we noticed oil spewing all over the motor. The cause of the oil leak was that the plastic timing cap had come loose. We missed our spot in the order, but got the car repaired and were the last car out for single car qualifying. Jimmy timed 26th out of 28 cars and started scratch for the 2nd heat race. In the second heat, we finished 8th out of the 9 cars but were competitive. We were at speed with the 11 of Shawn Hubler and the 96au of Bruce White. The 8th place finished put us in the B-Main starting 11th. Minor adjustments were made to keep up with the track conditions and we pushed off for the feature. At the drop of the green, we were pretty competitive racing with the cars around us gaining valuable seat time. We were in the top ten when disaster struck!!! As the leader was getting ready to put Jimmy a lap down, something in the steering broke sending the #787 for a spin. Chris Andrews, the leader, clipped the car in the left front sending Pooler into a wild flip coming out of turn two displaying the red flag immediately. Jimmy walked away uninjured but the same could not be said for the car. We got the car back to the trailer and the WMS crew started taking apart and repairing the car enough to get it on the trailer. We lost our second top wing of the season, front axle, front and rear nerf bars, a handful of radius rods and a few miscellaneous parts. Fortunately, the motor, the frame and the rear end were not hurt in the accident. Video of the accident can be seen at: https://facebook/photo.php?v=489898227762782. Ultimately, we were credited with a 12th place finish in the B-Main. The spectacular wreck was a minor setback for Jimmy Pooler and the Wooster Motorsports team but we will return even stronger. Accidents are part of the sport we all love and look forward to putting this wild one in our rearview mirror. Pending we find nothing major repairing the car this week, we plan on racing Friday night at Wayne County Speedway for the Summer Sizzler.
