Word for Today ~ “THE POWER OF THE TONGUE” Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].” You speak words, you type words, you text words, you think words, and you tweet words. The words you use can show love or anger. The Bible makes it clear that there is power in the words you speak. Your words can bring life or death. God’s desire is for your words to bring life whether spoken or unspoken. When you consider your words carefully and align them with Gods definition of love, then you release a kiss of life. You must make sure that your words are filled with the expression of peace, patience, kindness, gratefulness, and forgiveness. Your words need to delight in truth and release hope. This may not be easy for you since you speak an enormous amount of words each day. But the Holy Spirit is always with you to help you use words seasoned with His loving kindness. God desires that you would allow Him to touch your mouth and fill them with words that bear good fruit. He desires that you would allow Him to renew your mind so that your thoughts are pure in His sight. Therefore, be kind to yourself. One of the greatest harms you can inflict upon yourself is to speak negative words over your own life. If you speak or think words like: I’m stupid! I’m so ugly! I’m so dumb! Or there is no hope for me! Then you are bringing death to your true identity. Negative thoughts lead to wrong beliefs. When you agree with the lies of the devil, it causes you to live the lie. Begin to speak the truth about who you are until your heart believes it. If you’re having a bad day, begin to speak out loud the truth about who you are (according to Gods revelation) until you aligned with God’s truth. Bishop D.
