Word from a fellow CoRRECTor: Dear fellow Filipinos, Rather than continuing to keep complaining about Corruption and inefficiency in government, dont you think it makes sense to shift to a system of government that is proven by numerous academic studies to be less prone to corruption than the current dysfunctional presidential system that we have? During the time of former President Fidel Ramos, he and his colleagues were already alking about the need to shift over to a Parliamentary System. But Philippine MEDIA OUTFITS owned by the evil Oligarchs kept spreading all sorts of black propaganda against the concept of Constitutional Reform. They kept saying that moves to push for Constitutional Reform were simply a ploy for TERM EXTENSIONS. What nonsense RUBBISH! Parliamentary Systems arent about term extensions. Instead, they feature the ability of a successful and effective Prime Minister to continue on in office in order to oversee his reforms and his programmes. But on the other hand, Parliamentary Systems also mean that ineffectual and failed Prime Ministers can easily get removed from the position if they fail to deliver. And theres no need to wait for their term to expire. If their own people think they should go, they out they go. In Parliamentary Systems, the Government (Prime Minister and his/her Cabinet) are regularly called to account for their actions or decisions in open parliament during Question Period. Everything they said or did (or didnt do) is SCRUTINIZED by the whole parliament, particularly by the OPPOSITION. How can anyone be corrupt with the whole of parliament, led by the Opposition, watching over all your decisions and actions? Its no wonder that the least corrupt countries in the world are MOSTLY COUNTRIES USING PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEMS! Do you really want to continue on using a lousy and dysfunctional Presidential System where winnability and name recall is the key factor for why a candidate is likely to win as the top executive, and this top executive is NOT OBLIGED to appear before parliament to be questioned and scrutinized regularly? The time has come for more and more Filipinos to start learning about how the Parliamentary System works.
