Word of Life Quiet Time 03/23/2014 Mark 7:14-23 V14-16 Jesus invites the crowd to hear a profound and to them revolutionary statement. It is one of the main points in a contemporary Christians witnessing plan. “Sin comes from within human beings.” It is not what goes into a man or woman but what comes out in the daily and minute by minute living of one of God’s creative beings that would make one unclean. V17 Jesus’ closest companions still had the need to ask for explanations of his messages. They did not understand what Jesus meant. V18-19 Jesus amplified his explanation by stating that external factors, food or evil influences are not responsible for a person’s sinful condition. And that the sinful state of man is the reason for man’s corruption. V20-23 Jesus continues to explain and lists twelve different sinful things that are produced in a natural man. Six are evil acts and six are evil attitudes. Application: This passage of scripture should cause one to reflect upon the need every human being has for God’s intervention. Sin is the issue that keeps people from pleasing God and enjoying his presence. My sin was taken away on September 30, 1973. This is the day that I trusted Jesus Christ and invited Him to be my savior. It is because of Jesus Christ that I am alive. It is because that Jesus Christ is in my life that I can please God.
