Words can be moulded until they clothe ideas and disguise... Today, Joseph Goebbels was born. The Machiavellian, brilliant but evil Minister of Propaganda for the Nazi regime, Goebbels was the ultimate master of manipulation, utilising the best minds and talents in Germany to disseminate the beliefs of the Nazis. His legacy can still be seen in modern advertising and social media techniques. Interestingly, one of the few people who Goebbels stood in awe of was a personal hero of mine, John Grierson, the head of the GPO Film Unit in Britain (see GPO Film Unit Filmmakers - during and post-GPO period board on Pinterest). Im a great believer that history must be remembered, even if it is painful and especially if it is involves the doing of evil deeds, simply lest we forget and repeat others previous sins. Goebbels on making a square a circle: It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.
