Worker uprising in New England happening NOW. Give them some love... 10,000 workers, customers and supporters rallied at New England-based grocery chain Harvest Markets headquarters today to support their CEO, Arthur T. DeMoulas who was ousted by the family-run board last months. For the past week, rank-and-file workers, along with store managers and top executives have been encouraging customers not to shop at Market Basket until Artie T. is returned. Drivers and warehouse workers have been on a wildcat strike, refusing to make deliveries to stores. The dairy, meat and produce shelves at all 71 stores are mostly empty. Why would workers be so fiercely loyal to a CEO? The benefits of working at Market Basket are ones that other retail & service workers can only dream of: clerks start at $12/hour, the highest in the industry. Veteran cashiers can make $40,000/year. Full time workers pay nothing for their health insurance. ALL workers participate in a profit-sharing plan, and get multiple yearly bonuses. The company contributes 15% of workers yearly income to workers retirement fund. They give $1000/year scholarships to EVERY worker enrolled in college. On top of all that, Artie T. is a warm, classy guy who attends workers weddings and knows most of their names. https://facebook/pages/Save-Market-Basket/136649323208808
