Working Party Thursday 13 March 2014 On a very foggy day Neal Chapman made a welcome reappearance and joined Phil Sayers; Ray Brooks; Alan Chetwynd and Winston McCanna. It was noted with pleasure that the Museum had received confirmation of its reaccreditation and this reflects on hard work by a lot of people. The building work to remove the redundant door on the upper floor of the Museum to the balcony was complete, and all that was necessary was to redecorate and make good. The plaster was still not dry so no work was possible but a programme to deal with what is required was agreed with the aim of getting the preparation complete before next Thursday’s working party. The upper floor of the Museum will have to remain closed to the public for the next two weekends. Ray carried out house keeping on the ground floor to keep it spick and span during the works taking place on the upper floor. Winston tidied up the Gunpowder Shed to enable the Corris Mail Waggon to be moved forward so that work could be untaken on it all round. Phil; Alan and Neal then painted the wagon with a coat of Museum Grey Undercoat to waterproof the body before decorative coats of Red Oxide, which is not, can be applied. Phil was then asked to take over as Controller as a Post Office Special charter was to run pulled by locomotive No 1. Two of the Extras waiting on the platform came into the museum and were shown the ground floor by Ray. The next working party will be held on Thursday 20 March followed by Thursday 27 March.
