World Bank Dreaming that Poverty can end in a Generation While the World Bank releases theoretical economic statements and not consider the true facts of employment life here, this statement has no credibility making the corrupt government look better than what they really are. With the current 6 months contract available to most employees, it only answer a short term solution to unemployment while the employer are raking in monstrous short term profit. This can be be viewed as totally unconcerned attitude by employers to the plight, stability and career development of workers. Add to this the pitiful minimum wage and the rising transport cost plus having 40% of workers living in illegal settlement, how can the World Bank makes irrelevant and inaccurate statement about ending poverty. There is no room for realistic improvement. Include the continued corruption by the government, the Pope is right. It will take massive sacrifices from the rich and corrupt government to improve the life and welfare of the poor. So can anyone foresee the end to poverty in the near future? I guess they can dream on.
