The World Bank, in light of President Obama’s speech on climate change, has pledged to amend its energy strategy to significantly reduce its support of coal projects. Reported Reuters, the World Bank will now only provide support for greenfield coal projects in countries in which “no feasible alternative” exists. The bank will be shifting its focus on helping countries find alternatives to coal.
