World Diabetes Day celebrated across Doda District under NCD Programme Doda, November 14: On the eve of World Diabetes Day, to be observed on 14th November, National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer Diabetes and Stroke (NPCDCS) camps were organized in all health blocks of Doda District including Ghat, Gandoh, Assar,Thathri and Bhaderwah today for prevention of diabetes and creating awareness among the masses regarding diabetes. These camps have been organized by District Non Communicable Disease (NCD) Unit under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda Dr Mohammad Yaqoob Mir. At District Hospital Doda, the camp was inaugurated by CMO Doda along with other functionaries of Health Department. In a highly educative lecturer to a large gathering Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda Dr Mir said that current theme of diabetes awareness is life style because however much the new inventions and discoveries in management and control of diabetes may be effective, the basic Mantra for successful control of diabetes is a life style based on regulated daily routine, balanced timely diet schedule, adequate level of physical activity and freedom from stress. Finance Cum Logistic Officer (NCD) Mohammad Faheem highlights the objectives of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardio Vascular Disease and Stroke on this occasion and appealed the people to take benefit from this national health scheme and how to prevent this deadly disease through counselling. Faheem further said “World Diabetes Day” is an occasion for each one of use, whether a medical professional or a social activist, to rededicate ourselves to the cause of controlling rapid spread of epidemic of diabetes in India which is going to pose a huge economic burden for the nation in the times to come. Similarly on this occasion, free diabetes screening test were also held at SDH Bhaderwah, PHC Bhalla, PHC Chinta, SDH Gandoh, PHC Changa, SDH Thathri, SC Khara, PHC Ghat, PHC Bhagwah, PHC Assar, PHC Goha and other health institutions of the District wherein peoples were screened and some of them were found to be having diabetes.
