World Economic Forum - EYs EOY Alumni and Friends breakfast meeting Whether it’s better connectivity, ease of doing business or improving quality of life, high-impact entrepreneurs challenge our views on what’s possible and lead us to new terrain. In conjunction with the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, EY hosted a private breakfast session in Tianjin, China, this morning, 11 September 2014. The well-attended breakfast also supported the launch of the World Economic Forum’s report, The Bold Ones – High-impact Entrepreneurs Who Transform Industries. In this report, the World Economic Forum takes an in-depth look at EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year finalists and how these companies, and high-impact entrepreneurs in general, outperform their peers at various stages of their life cycle. The breakfast session was moderated by Maria Pinelli, EY’s Global Vice Chair, Strategic Growth Markets and included entrepreneur panelists from China, Africa and the US. Dr. Liu Jiren, CEO of Neusoft, discussed how his innovative technology company leverages its high PE ratio to continue to fund the development of cutting edge and advanced software solutions, especially for the healthcare industry. Jim Nguyen, Co-founder or TrueCar, discussed how his business has overcome many “near death experiences” over its first nine years, but has developed a unique niche in creating greater transparency for car buying consumers and greater efficiency for auto dealerships. Finally, Sara Menker discussed how her African data mining company, started only two years ago, has taken on the ambitious goal of creating technology solutions to improve access to reliable information within the African agriculture market. The breakfast session was a tremendous success and created opportunities for entrepreneurs to learn from the successes of the panelists and better understand how these dynamic entrepreneurs have encountered and overcome challenges in growing their business. ey/GL/en/Issues/Business-environment/world-economic-forum-2014
