World football governing body, FIFA will deduct the cost of expenses incurred by the Super Eagles from the participation fees due to the national team. Nigeria is entitled to the sum of $1.7 million (about N 272 million) for not going past the group stage. The same amount that will also be given to Japan, Mexico and Tahiti. But the President of the Nigeria Football Federation Aminu Maigari has clarified that FIFA would not pay the whole amount to Nigeria, as the international body will deduct the cost of services provided to the Eagles from their participation fees. It is understood that FIFA will charge the costs of all flights, accommodation, feeding, security and other sundry services to Nigeria from their entitlements.
