World toilet day and our very first prize! Last week was certainly eventful! On the 19th of November was the 2014 World Toilet Day. To that occasion Huussi Ry. jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Finnish Water Forum had organised a conference on sanitation From problem to resource at Aalto University. We were among the presentators and had a great opportunity to tell about the project and show the already great achievements! Later the same day our very own Pilot toilet made an appearance on MTV3s news! You can watch it on the video below. The very first prize for the Pilot! Zita you won a prize! this is how Tiina Laurila the study coordinator of our masters program, Creative sustainability at Aalto University, announced the third place prize winning to Zita Floret, who had participated to The Tao of sustainabilty, an international conference and exhibition on sustainable design in Beijing during the autumn. The Pilot and her research work was presented with the title: Pee, Poop and architecture: Working with a community on scalable sanitation solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
