Worship the Lord with songs Last night during my contemplative prayer time with the Lord, He told me that He loves it when I sing to Him in prayer. So I told Him, for the rest of my prayer time with Him, I will sing. I sang this song and I completely felt His presence, that I was in tears. Isaiah 49:13 ..speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father Ephesians 5:19-20 For in the days of David and Asaph, in ancient times, there were leaders of the singers, songs of praise and hymns of thanksgiving to God. Nehemiah 12:46 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; Acts 16:25 ----------------- We, as humans naturally like to sing. Sometimes, I sing in the shower or in my car or with my children and at times with my husband. If we sing our favourite latest tunes, why not sing to the Lord and for the Lord? Singing is praying twice so its a great habit to form. I now have the routine of having the Christian radio station on every time Im in my car. If theres a lot of talking, I change it to my kids Hillsong CD or even my kids veggie-tales worship songs. When we are doing some long driving, the whole family sings worship songs and when we are at home, the family sings along to songs from our local Christian station (CHRI family radio- chri.ca). Our favourite family song right now is When Jesus say Yes by Michelle Williams (she used to be part of Destinys Child with Beyonce). We really love singing to the Lord and He loves listening to our voices! He loves to listen to all His childrens voices worshiping Him. So, why not spend time singing to Him? He deserves to hear our voices, no matter how bad or good you think it is. He doesnt care if you feel that you are out of tune, its the fact that you are singing to Him from your heart, that you are actually worshiping Him, that you are thinking of Him. If you havent tried it, I encourage you to. You start off with maybe a worship song you loved when you were a kid then maybe expose yourself to new Christian songs out there. There are a few great singers and Christian bands out there that range from pop, rock to rap. Smith (Here I am to Worship), Chris Tomlin (Lord, I need you), Matthew West (Do something) Rap: TobyMac (Steal my show), Manafest (Glory), Lecrae (Tell the world) For girls/teens/Women: Jamie Grace (Beautiful day), Rachel Lampa (I am blessed), Mandisa (Overcomer), Jaci Velasquez (Girl), Britt Nicole (Youre worth more than gold), Francesca Battistelli (Write your story) Kids: Cat Chat (I wanna say yes), Veggie tales ultimate worship songs (Your grace is enough), Hillsong Kids (Jesus, youre my superhero) Rock: NewsBoys (Gods not dead), Casting Crowns (Praise you in this storm), Switchfoot (Meant to live), Mercy Me (I can only imagine) For those who are not familiar with Christian songs or not as exposed, check out the genre you are interested in and listen to some of the artists on youtube. I mentioned some of my favourite songs from the artists/bands above if you want to check them out yourselves. For those who are already doing this, keep up that amazing time with our God!
