Wow. Many thanks to the Kokals and the entire Horsetenders Mustang Foundation team for a fantastic fall weekend in Greenfield, NH. I stepped up when I was asked to volunteer to help because the cause they promote and support - reconnecting horses and humans in understanding - is so close to my own and to the Remount Troop mission to Rescue, Rebuild, and Remount horses AND people. But frankly, I was very impressed with the dedication and commitment and plain hard work by all the volunteers who made this happen so well. I was also really pleased by how many wonderful people came out see the Mustangs, to learn more of their history and of the Foundations goals, and just enjoy a wonderful fall day in mountain foliage watching horses. I was also lucky enough to be one who got to play with the horses - one in particular seems to have a habit of ducking through the fence looking for yummier stuff to munch. Stays right there; nibbled some ferns & golden rod; and had this sort of (heh - see what I can do?) smirk. I also want to send out an extra special Thanks and well done to my wife, Diane Kelly, who supports my madcap efforts and to my friend Linda Buchanan Allen who does so much to help with her Barney and my Troy. Her efforts this weekend made it possible to take the time away from caring for those boys to go support the Mustangs. Thank you very much. If you missed this event and are local enough or want more opportunity to see how they quietly reconnect with these great animals, take a look at Kris Kokals upcoming event on Round Penning, This will be November 6 & 7, 2014, and after a kick off with history of round pen work and some basics YOU will be doing it. This is a learn by doing event with Kris, and I highly recommend it if you can get there. Contact: horsetenders/contact.html
