Wow. The time has flown by. Yeah, Im sure you guys are exhausted and you have all probably felt like its been a long haul playing basketball from November til now. For me, as a manager, now that its over, it feels like just yesterday, we were in East Machias, playing our first game against Elm Street. In the past 5 months, Ive seen a lot of things.. Good and bad, but the things Ive seen have made me so glad that I chose to manage this team for the past 5 months. I took the year off of basketball, myself, first, to focus on academics. That was my main thing, at first.. Then thoughts came to my mind. Why quit the sport completely when I can share my knowledge of a sport I love with people that I know and would take in knowledge and benefit from it? That brought me here, managing you guys.. And I wouldnt trade these past months for anything else. It has been a pleasure working with you all. Eighth graders, I hope that you continue to play basketball in high school. You all have tons of talent, and I think over the past months, some of you didnt realize it. Watching you grow over the past months in this sport, I think, I can speak for you all, in a sense, that you guys have found out that you can play this sport and you can play it well. For the younger kids, I hope, as well, that you continue to play basketball. You guys have definitely grown in this sport, and have become tremendously better than you were way back in November. Continue to play the sport, and youll become even better than you are now. Stick to it, and things will come, in time. Never give up. None of you are quitters. You all grew as a team, and coming from a variety of different schools, it isnt always the easiest thing to do. I know, because I played on the Patriots team for two years, myself. The main thing of this post and of this whole season is I hope that you guys had fun, and even learned a few things along the way. I know I did. You guys are great, and I want to thank each and every one of you for making my winter a little bit more bearable by spending it with a great group of basketball players. Im super proud of you all and all of the accomplishments that you have achieved this basketball season. See you guys next weekend. Go Patriots!
