Wow. What a game. Where im at they were screening weight of the nation, NZs 2011 WC quest. In that video, Graham Henry said when his team found out they were playing the Wallabies in the semis, the entire locker room started whooping and celebrating. The players found out it was the Wallabies, and it was like we already won. If youve played rugby before, you will understand what it feels like. Tonight there was this overwhelming hatred and emotion pouring through the performance. It stems from hurt and it stems from the accumulation of adrenalin and desire over the week. And thousands of miles away you can feel it through the TV. I went bonkers today, watching Julian Savea chasing against 3 Wallabies; watching Richie McCaw fighting his way through to rip the ball out in a maul; watching Ben Franks and Luatua line up to hit Will Skelton. Beauden Barrett doing everything right to stop Folau. You could feel it the emotion today through the blood and through the bones. And you wanted them to really hurt the Wallabies today. You wanted them to put on 50. You knew they brought the game tonight and it was going to be a question of margin. And they came good. We destroyed the Wallabies tonight. We needed to. There will be plenty of analysis. Plenty of ratings. Plenty of what went rights vs last week. But today all these are rather unnecessary. It was a team performance through adn through, and an overarching spirit and need to win this for the brothers in black. The skill exhbitied was great, but the sheer necessity to win was remarkable.
