Wow...a throwback to 2 years ago today when the Save BC Film campaign was launched, and over 4000+ film workers showed up at the North Shore Studios....most people desperate to work and loosing their homes and livelihoods...to hear the industry leaders ask-even beg- the Government to help the failing industry.... 2 years later, the industry is back on its feet due to the falling Loonie (thank you Loonie!)...the Government said no to the 25% all-spend tax incentive, so thank goodness for the dollar and great crews here. Also in 2 years we have seen only one platform promise (Victoria) come through from the current Government...they keep promising the DAVE tax credit (to promote and bring the digital and post productions here), but after 2 years all that has materialized is talk about when it is coming...the post industry remains hopeful... The good news is my MLA Jane Thornthwaite has singlehandedly rallied and become the #1 supporter of the film and TV industry, and for that we all are very thankful.
