Wow what a great day! We had a total of 68 students come in for a visit today. That brings our total visits for the year to 447! Donations continue to be very steady. Take a look at the pictures for a peek into just some of the things that came in. I know you are reading our needs for the week posts :) Bobby pins, mouthwash, tampons, mascara, nice hoodies(yay!!), snacks, all kinds of nice clothes....it was awesome. Here are a few of the items that came in that were not on the list, and yet we love to get. Picture frames, ipod docks, small desk fans, jewelry boxes, small storage boxes, earrings, bracelets, and sunglasses. It is so nice to be able to offer such a variety of things for students to choose from :) We continue to have an incredible amount of things go out of the room. The needs have definitely increased since last year. Linda and Piper went through all of our winter clothing tubs today, which was a huge job. All of our winter clothing is now either on racks or in the cubbies in our room. Needless to say we need more winter clothes! Thirty-nine students took some type of clothing today alone. I have a good story to tell you. You know how important it is to have a good pair of shoes. We had the most polite young man come in last week. Although he didnt ask for a pair of tennis shoes, he really needed a new pair. He found a pair of casual leather shoes to wear but no tennis shoes that we had fit him. We got him a new pair and had him come for a visit. He sat down with the box and said These are a new pair...for me? Yes!! They fit him perfectly and he said they were really comfortable. Warms your heart :) We had one of our girls who came in needing an outfit for an interview. She went out with a cute jacket, skirt, sweater, little black purse, and nail polish. She is ready to get that job! Thank you for you care for our students. You are making an incredible difference. I will leave you with this quote. It describes you all. Kindness One of the greatest gifts you can bestow upon another. If someone is in need, lend them a helping hand. Do not wait for a thank you. True kindness lies within the act of giving without the expectation of getting something in return.
