Wows,wow and wow! Well said! This was a huge frustration in our family for so long. Our sons played as many sports as they wanted to figure out what they wanted to do. Once they got those lax sticks in their hands that was their priority. We became a lacrosse family. But if they wanted to do another sport then good for them! What really frustrated us was some of the football players wanted to come out for lacrosse in the spring to keep up their conditioning and the high school football coach threatened to bench them the following season if they did. Totally against policy and terrible for the kids. Once the players were seniors and football was over, they didnt care and came out. There was some good talent wasted for years. Im sick of these egotistical coaches that play god. Also, as parents, encourage your childs drive. Dont drive for them. Players also need to be responsible and realize when they are older, that if you join a team then you made a commitment to that team and you are needed. Dont let little excuses get in your way. You need to prove your worth as a player if you want to play. Just because you always played in every game in a youth rec league doesnt mean you will play in higher competitive sports. And parents need to stay out of it. Unless of course there is an egotistical SOB coach to deal with.
