Wowww..😳 I think it is probably more than a good thing that I did not attend the meeting in broaddus today. Number one, by the comments and things I have heard, whoever made this petition to keep Mcgown as superintendent (what? Are we not allowed to say his name. Yall act like yall are scared to say it like Voldemorr off of Harry Potter..) and 95% of the people who signed it CLEARLY have no idea why they signed it and no one can produce substantial evidence as to what he has done that has benefited our school district in anyway and vice versa. No one has any reasons as to why he should be fired.. I think we are all just a little bit too worried about what everyone else is going to say. Oh, well blahblah is against him so I will sign this petition because I know he/she will see it. Or well I heard he did this so I want him to be terminated from his position. I am a 20 year old CHILD and I can see that this is a matter of favoritism and politics. But let me say this.. In 2011, I applied to two colleges, SFA and Texas A&M. I never thought that I would get accepted to the latter option, but by the grace of God I did and let me tell you... It is by the grace of God that I am still there. My first semester there, as I sat in a room with about 150 other students, was quite the culture shock but even more than that. I could barely comprehend what the teacher was saying and I had no idea how to organize the information into my notes that would benefit me. Matter of fact, I had no idea how to take notes at all. I felt like the most ignorant person in the room for a long time.. The point that I am trying to make is, I learned more in the gym and ag shop than I did in the classroom years combined in high school. Yes, I came in contact with several great teachers, but mainly all were replaced or left on their own. My last two years of math course were supposed to be umm... Trigonometry? And maybe calculus? I honestly have no idea because we were doing the same math that the freshmen were doing.. And the sophomores.. And the juniors.. The entire high school was literally doing the same work. It was awesome at the time!!! But when I sat in that classroom in college station, staring at a question with 100 numbers that I literally had no earthly idea how to answer, it sucked. I hope and pray that this is different now. Maybe it was just a bad couple of years for Brpaddus ISD, maybe things have changed.. Thats just it. CHANGE. Broaddus needs CHANGE. Broaddus ISD needs students, parents, teachers, school board members, and a superintendent that work together as a unit to do the greater good for the STUDENT body. I encourage each and every one of you involved to dig deeper and ask yourself if the bandwagon that youre hopping on is really what YOU think is best for your child..
