Writing is a never-ending journey (I am talking about myself) - TopicsExpress

Writing is a never-ending journey (I am talking about myself) through which I am constantly torn between two seemingly contradictory forces: what I think and what I do, in other words, rationality and emotion. This piece is particularly precious for me since I dared to challenge myself again by writing an academic article (not an essay) that includes non-academic experience. I am not sure whether a narrative approach can exist in political science (different from history). But I always thought there was something missing when I write about reconciliation referring to tons of academic books but without any reference to my life. It is always easier to say ‘X is not apologizing like Y, what’s wrong with X?’ or ‘we should reconcile like Y and Z did.’ However, when it comes to my own life, reconciliation gives a totally different dimension. I am not qualified to preach to anyone (and have no intention to do so). What I am interested in instead is to share the essence of my life not only as a scholar but also as a human being who believes that relationship -at all kinds- matters in our life. I thank Johns Hopkins University AICGS to have accepted my ‘innocence’ to mix academic and non-academic approach to write a piece about reconciliation that reflects both my intellectual reflection and first-hand experience.
