The Equalizer - $19 million 4. The Boxtrolls - $12.4 million 5. The Maze Runner - $12 million It was a photo finish at the weekend box office. Gone Girl edged out Annabelle by less than a million bucks to open at number-one. Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck as a man suspected of killing his missing wife, debuted with $38 million. Meanwhile, Annabelle, the horror flick about a demonic doll, premiered with $37.2 million. Last weekends number-one movie, The Equalizer, fell to third with $19 million. The Boxtrolls dropped from third to fourth with $12.4 million. The Maze Runner went from second to fourth $12 million. And the Nicolas Cage Rapture thriller Left Behind opened in sixth with $6.9 million.
