Xenophon said around 350BC: Nothing forced or misunderstood can ever be beautiful. And when I hold this idea in my head ...time drifts away, as does my tension, stiffness, and impatience. And in return of course Abbey reflects my softness! He becomes more relaxed, less resisting, more willing... And like magic He then lives up to his name... Abracadabra. And yet again I am clearly reminded that its never the horses fault. I must take responsibility for the horse’s behaviour and the ‘cause and effect’ of relaxation or tension. What I bring to the partnership creates the quality of it. Horses are such patient teachers.
