Having to withstand pressure in his previous matches, Xu Xin should have been more comfortable but Samsonov was not an easy opponent especially on a major event like this. With the shadow of his defeat last year and to prove his mental strength, Xu Xin was determined to win. Fighting against nerves, Xu Xin successfully achieved his breakthrough in the world series. After intense competitions, the 2013 Mens World Cup has concluded today, October 27 with the Chinese top seed Xu Xin redeeming himself against Vladimir Samsonov in the finals and is now a world cup champion. Having to learn his lesson from the past set, Xu Xin ensured a two-point lead at least and he succeeded. Samsonov still hasnt lost his fighting spirit in the match and continued to pose threat to the younger Chinese player. He levelled in 9-9 in the fourth set but Xu Xin stayed composed. Samsonov found himself in a mountain to climb in 1-3. At this point, with a good lead, Xu Xins confidence and momentum increased forcing Samsonov to call for a timeout. After the game resumed, Xu Xin made the necessary actions as he sealed it with 11-6, 12-14, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7. Xu Xin clinched his first ever world title in his career. After facing defeat in their respective semifinal matches earlier this day, the two Germans unfortunately had to face each other for the bronze medal. This morning, Dimitrij Ovtcharov displayed a very good fight against Xu Xin where he had a 3-2 lead. The only problem was his consistency in keeping up his momentum. Meanwhile, the match against Samsonov went by for Timo Boll quite fast and the German player wasnt able to make the necessary actions. Probably still havent fully adjusted from his sickness some time ago, Timo Boll found himself in a 3-10 deficit in the opening set. Ovtcharov started well with the first advantage. Just as everyone thought Timo Boll will be swept away again, the top European player slowly established his pace and overtook to level things in 1-1. Despite some good rallies in the match, Timo Boll was clearly not in his element in the competition. There was a problem on his consistency and that led him to serious trouble. As the match progressed, Ovtcharov continued to take advantage and ultimately scored 11-3, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-6. This is the first ever individual world cup medal of Dimitrij Ovtcharov.
