YEAR WITHOUT GOD Im sharing this, not because of the article - TopicsExpress

YEAR WITHOUT GOD Im sharing this, not because of the article itself, but because of Ryans narrative in his post on the Year Without God Facebook page. Ryan took a lot of heat from both sides of the atheist-theist contest, and ALL of it was unwarranted. But, confirmation bias affects many of us, and it was easy for theists to dismiss Ryan as a false Christian, and it was easy for atheists to dismiss him as a publicity hound. And confirmation bias has been on my mind lately, (probably since Im writing an essay on it). Well, I know Ryan. Personally. He was neither a false Christian, nor was he a publicity hound. And, he really gets it right when he says that: I always read these stories thinking, Maybe this will be the one that explains it. But theres just nothing here......It is true that some very intelligent people go from no faith to faith. I just cant help but think that they ignore or overlook some questions along the way. It often takes a long, LONG time to discover where you think youre supposed to be. Years. Decades, even. Ryan is still on his yearlong journey, Trying On Atheism for a Year, and I have my suspicions on where hell finally end up. (It might not be where YOU think it is, though. Hell, I might be wrong about it!)
