YOUNG MAN, I TELL YOU, ARISE...SAID JESUS...... From the Gospel according to St Luke 7(11-17).. The narrative tells.about Jesus entering the town.of.Naim when they encountered a funeral procession for a young man, and there too was the mother, a widow weeping for her son. Moved with.pity, Jesus came over next to the coffin and said to her "Do not weep" and touched the coffin as if reaching out for her son and spoke with authority saying " young man, I tell you, arise ! ". Fear seized the large crowd that witnessed the miracle and said " God has visited his people! " I AM A SURVIVOR..... A common quote we hear and read from the media, citing the victims of deadly cancer that afflicts women and men in our society. For those who suffered death in the family, we often read or meet the wives, sons and daughters who survived after the father or husbands passing away. But our culture differs from the story in this Gospel. The widow lost her only son and " left to bear the grief alone and much more devastating...because women survived by way of the men in their lives..." But what lesson is there for us to reflect on, only that JESUS was a man of divine nature a man from GOD who not only raised the young man from the dead and gave him back life but also life to the widow and mother.... May we commit our lives to you in fidelity and trutn... May we trust in you to act toward us in.love... May ee praise you Lord for you have rescued us and gave us back our life...AMEN.
