YOUR URGENT HELP NEEDED TO TAKE BACK THE IDAHO GOP THIS WEEK Dear Friends of Liberty, AN IMPORTANT DEADLINE IS COMING UP ON FRIDAY THE 14TH. This is the deadline to file for office. As many of you know, one of the major projects Idahoans for Liberty has been involved with is the Precinct Committeeman Project: the recruitment of conservatives, libertarians, and constitutionalists into party positions within the Idaho GOP. We have had fantastic success with this project, which has been done every election cycle since 2008. Because of so many new liberty lovers coming into the Idaho Republican Party, we have been able to move the party in a more constitutional direction statewide. This means weve been able to elect pro-liberty officers (including the State Chairman), pass pro-liberty rules and resolutions, and have made major strides in keeping our elected officials accountable. It was the Idaho Republican Party that twice voted against adopting the state healthcare exchange, even with the Governor appearing to testify in favor. Its been the grassroots Republican Party that has been standing up for principle while our elected officials violate their oaths. Thats why its more important than ever for pro-liberty people to get involved in the GOP – we need you to help us keep the pressure on our elected officials. A quick overview: Every county is divided into a certain number of voting precincts, and each one of those precincts elects an officer called a Precinct Committeeman. These positions are on the primary ballot along with all other candidates in the election. The Precinct Committeemen (PCs) who are elected at the Primary run the Republican Party of Idaho, and get to vote on all party policies. Its a tiny little seat to run for, but it has a big impact on state politics! Running is fun and easy! If no one files against you, you win automatically. If you draw an opponent, you get to decide how much you want to campaign for the seat. If you can shake the hands of a few Republicans in your neighborhood you can pull off a victory. The deadline is 5PM on Friday. HERES WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: If you are at all interested in getting involved anywhere in the state, please contact us and let us know what precinct you are in. We will be able to tell you if we have an opening in your area. Since many pro-liberty friends have already filed, please contact us first to make sure you dont end up running against an ally and splitting the vote for an establishment candidate. Then, email your name, county, precinct number and contact info to Idahoans4Liberty@gmail. We need volunteers to drop off and pick up candidate paperwork, knock on doors of prospective PC candidates, look up your like-minded friends precinct numbers, and so on.
